Stonewall Democrats of El Paso was founded in 2022 and officially charted in 2024. We are the official progressive voice for El Paso County and the LGBTQIA+ Community.

We pride ourselves on always standing up for what is right, holding bad actors accountable, and ensuring that we bring honest discussions with our elected officials to our LGBTQIA + community!

Our story

Founded on Sept 29th 2022 -
Our organization was founded in 2022 by SDEC Wesley Lawrence. We endorsed several candidates in the general election and helped them get out the vote!

July 2nd 2023-
Stonewall Democrats of El Paso planned and organized the official Rally Against SCOTUS after they struck down affirmative action!

September 24th 2023-
Stonewall Democrats of El Paso hosted State Senator Roland Gutirrez for his 2024 Senate run!

June 20th 2023-
We worked with City Representatives Cassandra Hernandez (D3) and Henry Rivera (D7) to create policy to make El Paso a safer place for LGBTQIA+ El Pasoans! This was to create an office of equality, to create an equality and inclusion board, to create a one El Paso safer together program, to deprioritize enforcement of those seeking gender affirming care, and to depritotize attacks on the drag community!

Nov 8th 2022 -
We held our first meeting and election watch party of the year!

October 10 th 2023-
We worked with City Representatives Cassandra Hernandez (D3) and Henry Rivera (D7) to declare October as Transgender History Month!

May 26th 2024-
Stonewall Democrats of El Paso Hosted Robert Vargas III candidate for President of Texas Stonewall Democrats

February 7th 2024-
Hosted our first Candidate Meet and Greet fundraiser where members of El Paso County could meet the candidates running in the 2024 Primary bringing in over $1K in donations.

August 29th 2024-
Under the leadership of President Nydia Reveles Stonewall Democrats of El Paso were officially chartered with Texas Stonewall Democrats!
